Kayaking

How do we get there ?

When you come by car, we recommend that you leave vehicles at the arrival in Anseremme, with a spare change of clothes.

You will then take the train or bus to the starting point and kayak your way down the river returning to your vehicles in Anseremme.

This way, once your activity is finished, you are near your vehicles, where hot showers and changing rooms await you.

(Out of respect for the neighborhood and other customers, we please ask you not to get changed on the parking lots)

How to dress ?

We advise you to wear a swimsuit under sports clothes (t-shirt, trainers, jeans, sweater and jacket in case of unsettled weather). Also forsee a complete change of clothes to leave in your coach or car so you can change upon arrival. Glasses should ideally be attached by a rubber band or string.

Do not take any valuables, keys or mobile phones that you could lose in the river (there is no mobile network along the way).

And if it rains ? What if the water level is too high or too low ?

The kayak trip down the river Lesse is perfectly achievable, even when raining.

In case of floods or dryness, the water level can vary significantly from one day to another, forcing us to close the kayaking activities for security reasons and nature protection.

In both cases, we endeavor to inform our customers and offer them a replacement programme. Please contact us for confirmation (+32 (0) 82.22.43.97).

Are there parkings ?

Large free parkings will allow you to leave your car at our different boarding points.

For beginners, do you recommend the long or the short trip ?

The kayak trip from Gendron to Anseremme is shorter, making it ideal for the youngest or for groups wishing to do a second activity on the same day.

The 5 hour trip is not more difficult than the 2h30' trip, it is just longer.

What are the level of difficulty for crossing the rapids ?

The crossings present a height difference of 50 cm, they can be overcome by all.

A few tips :

  • crossing at the castle of Walzin : continue along the crossing on the right bank, cross the far right of the rapid, perpendicular to it.

  • crossing at Pont-à-Lesse : pass on the left hand side, approximately 3 m from the banks.

What is the maximum weight per person on board the kayaks ?

There is no weight limit on board a kayak, but the width of the seat could possibly be problematic for some customers.

  • Single Standard : 45

  • Double Classic : 46

  • Super comfy Single : 46

  • Super comfy Double : 46

For people with high corpulence, we recommend a one-seater.

What differences are there between among the models of kayaks ?

  • The standard kayak is a standard entry-level model, exists in one or two-seaters. A basic comfort, this kayak is suitable for the short kayak tour.

  • The classic kayak is a two-seater model. Much more stable than the standard model, it is primarily « self emptying », in other words, water entering (for example : after the backwash crossing the rapids) clears automatically. No need to get in and out of your kayak.

  • The super comfy kayak also exists in one or two-seaters. Very stable with ergonomic seats and footrests, it is particulary suitable for the long kayak tour of 5 hours in order to enjoy nature in the most pleasant conditions.

  • The Canadian canoe is a boat similar to a pyrogue, also very stable, and can accommodate 2 adults and 1 child.

What happens if I want to stop during my trip and no longer wish to continue ?

Unfortunately, we do not have the ability to pick you up. All river banks are not accessible to vehicles, and we do not have vehicles for this purpose.

Therefore, you must continue your journey on foot, or take the train back down if you are near Gendron.

In case of accident or illness, you can call the fire brigade (dial the emergency number 100), and indicate the terminal closest to where you are.

Are we covered if something goes wrong ?

Dinant Evasion declines all responsability in case of theft, loss or damage of personal belongings during your trip down the river Lesse or one of our several parking lots at your disposal.
