Opening hours

The kayak trips on the Lesse are open daily from 01/04 tot 30/10, except for the first saturday of June (June, 3rd 2017)

The ticket office is open from 08:30 a.m. :

  • to 11:45 AM for the long trip (21km; 5 hours)

  • to 14:00 AM for the short trip (12km; 2h30)

Arriving in Anseremme before 17:00 p.m. (18:00 p.m. from 15 th June to 15 th September).

Kayaking on the river Lesse depends on weather conditions. In case of heavy rains or dryness contact us for confirmation : +32 (0) 82.22.43.97.

Boarding

Arrival by car:

Meet up at the finish point, in our offices Lesse Kayaks in Anseremme – Place Baudouin n°2 :

  • For the long trip Houyet-Anseremme (21km) : from 8:30 a.m. till 12:00 p.m.

  • For the short trip Gendron-Anseremme (12km) : from 08:30 a.m. to 14:00 p.m.

Buses or trains will take you to the departure point of the kayaks.

Arrival by coach or bus :  

Meet up at the boarding point :

  • between 09:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. in Houyet

  • between 10:00 a.m. and 14:00 p.m. in Gendron

Shuttle's departure times :

From 20/05 to 24/09:

  • Trains* towards Houyet (long kayak trip) depart at 9.10 a.m. – 10.00 a.m. – 10.30 a.m. – 11.00 a.m. – 12.00 p.m.** – 12.30 p.m.**

  • Trains* towards Gendron (short kayak trip) depart at 9.10 a.m. – 10.00 a.m. – 10.30 a.m. – 11.00 a.m. – 12.00 p.m. – 12.30 p.m. – 13.00 p.m. – 14.30 p.m.**

From 01/04 to 19/05 & from 25/09 to 31/10 :

  • Trains* towards Houyet (long kayak trip) depart at 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 a.m.**

  • Trains* towards Gendron (short kayak trip) depart at 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. - 14:30 p.m.**

From 1st May to 10th September, buses complete this schedule, but on a flexible schedule. Depending on when you pass at the reception ticket office in Anseremme, our cashiers will indicate you the best way to get to the starting point.

Picnic and catering halfway down the river Lesse

Various places are provided to dock and there are opportunities to eat in Gendron and Anseremme. Don't throw your trash in the nature. Tip : dock your kayak, take your paddles, airtight box and life jacket with you.

Minimum age

Activities accessible to children from 5* years accompanied by an adult. Children from 12 years, do not have to be accompanied.
Life jackets free of charge, compulsory for children under 10 years.

Disabled

Activities are difficult to access for people with a strong disability.

Rain, dryness and water levels

The activity depends on weather conditions.

  • In case of heavy rains, the water level can vary significantly from one day to another, forcing us to close the activity for safety reasons.

  • In case of dryness, the Walloon Government can forbid kayaking on the river, for reasons of environmental protection.

  • In both cases, we try to inform our customers and offer them a replacement programme.

It is recommended to consult the water level to evaluate access restrictions.

Legend of water level indications

black level

Level 0 black: 0 to 13 cm.
The entire river is closed because the water level is too low.
 
blue level Level 1 – blue: 18 to 70 cm.
Easy navigation .
Minimum age: 5 years, life jacket compulsory under 10 years .
green level Level 2 – green: 71 to 80 cm.
Vigilant navigation, minimum age : 8 years, life jacket compulsory for all .
 
orange level Level 3 – orange: 81 to 90 cm.
Experienced navigation , minimum age : 12 years, life jackets compulsory for all .
 
red level Level 4 – red: 90 to 99 cm.
For sportsmen, minimum age: 15 years, life jackets compulsory for all .

Level 5 – black: 100 cm and more , the entire river is closed because the water level is too high.

Useful tips :

  • Clothing : wear a swimsuit under your sport clothes (t-shirt, sneakers, jeans, sweater and jacket in case of unsettled weather, sunscreen and hat if sunny). Shoes are recommended throughout your trip.

  • Changing clothes : forsee towels and clothing for you to change (leave dry clothing in your bus or car). Hot showers and changing rooms are free at the arriving.

  • Do not take valuable objects, like keys, mobile phones that you could easily lose in the river (there is not much mobile frequency along the way).
  • Leave a maximum of responsible or experienced adults at the end of the group to help the youngsters.

Address and access :

Ticket office in Anseremme : Rue du vélodrome 15 - 5500 Dinant

Motorway E411, exit n° 20 Dinant.
Follow signs to Lesse-Philippeville, for 5 km.
Exit Anseremme, turn right. 4 km downhill.
Facing the river Meuse, turn left, 1.5 km towards the church of Anseremme.
In the middle of the square, take the road until the end of the street.
There you will find our Dinant Evasion offices.

Boarding point in Gendron* : Gare de Gendron-Celles - 5561 Celles

Motorway E411, exit n° 20 Dinant.
After 100 m, on the double carriageway, take the Dinant exit.
Turn left towards Celles for 3 km.
At the tank pub, go straight on towards Gendron – Lesse for 4 km.
After the railway bridge, turn left.
There you will find our Lesse Kayaks offices.

Boarding point in Houyet* : Gare de Houyet - 5560 Houyet

E411 Ardennes motorway, exit 22, Houyet.
Follow signs Houyet for 12 km.
In Houyet, cross the bridge over the river Lesse, before the railway crossing on the left,
you will find Lesse Kayaks offices.
Spacious free parking available.

By train : stations are named Anseremme, Gendron-Celles or Houyet. Check on the SNCB's website for more information.

(*) For those who come by car we always recommend to leave the vehicles at the arriving in Anseremme and go to the departure points with the shuttle.
