None, except for a quick training in navigation and boat equipment.

Allow about 2 hours for this training before you actually leave on your cruise.

 

What is the speed of the boat and how far do you travel per day ?

The normal cruising speed for a yacht is about 8 Km/h and it takes an average of 20 minutes to pass a lock. Plan to sail 4 to 6 hours a day, which will allow you to cover a distance of 30 to 40 km, not forgetting to add the time spent at each lock.

It is forbidden to sail at night.

 

How many people are needed to pilot a boat ?

A minimum of two people are needed to steer the boat. Indeed, lock manoeuvres require one person at the helm and another holding the mooring lines to keep the boat in place.

 

Is it possible to swim from the boat ?

Yes, if it is allowed: check your roadbook before diving and always keep life jackets at hand.

 

Can I fish from the boat ?

You need a fishing permit for this, so take precautions beforehand on https://permisdepeche.be/ or https://www.cartedepeche.fr/

Is there any heating ?

All our boats are equipped with a heating system to ensure comfort in any climate.

 

Is there hot water on the boat ?

Of course there is hot water on all our boats. The hot water is produced when the engine is running. So when the hot water tank is empty, you only need to run the engine for a few hours to generate hot water again.

 

Does the boat need to be refuelled while underway ?

This is not necessary for trips of less than 15 days.

 

Are dogs allowed?

Dogs are allowed on board the yacht for a supplement of €50/dog.

However, for the sake of travelling comfort, we advise against dogs exceeding 15kg. 

 

What equipment is provided and what equipment do we need to provide ?

Provided :

For the maximum number of passengers allowed on board

  • Kitchen equipment (pots, pans, dishes, etc.)
  • Tableware (plates, cutlery, glasses, etc.)
  • Sheets, duvets, pillows
  • Broom and mop

To bring :

  • Washing-up liquid
  • Toilet paper

Is there electricity on board ?

All boats are equipped with a 12V cigarette lighter socket.

 

Is the boat secure in our absence ?

Yes, when you leave the boat you can lock it like a motorhome.

 

What to do in case of a breakdown?

During your training, we will discuss the most common risks with you, and a detailed procedure is included in your roadbook.
